Scientist. Writer. Maker.

Rob Hutters

I'm a Dutch social scientist by training who enjoys experimenting with, well, everything. I make art across different mediums, develop product concepts for online markets, and enjoy teaching.

I try to document as much as I can. What you're looking at is the evidence of all that learning. I call it a 'digital garden', although I'm certainly not the first to call it that. I'm experienced in and proficient at:

  • writing (Dutch) poetry
  • writing long/short-form essays
  • storytelling
  • programming (JavaScript/Python)
  • devOps
  • web-development
  • marketing
  • business development
  • photography
  • system administration
  • data analysis
  • management science
  • sports science

And possess domain expertise in many other areas.

This 'blog' is an ongoing art project.

It's meant to demonstrate that it's okay to not finish things, seek novelty, develop understanding in many areas without necessarily becoming an expert, and most of all, it's a big fuck you to what I call the 'commercialisation of self'.

You're not a product. You're not a brand. You're a human being who can't be reduced to any single category. You contain multitudes. Refusing to productise yourself is an act of rebellion in today's world.

Everyone and their grandmother is trying to find their niche to capitalise on. It has made the web a much less interesting place. Reject your capitalist programming. Embrace expressing yourself in whatever way you want.

I recommend reading the ethos page for a description of how I go about developing this garden and its underlying philosophy. Please explore the garden at your leisure and thank you for visiting.
